I just love Oreo cookies and that’s why this Oreo cake is one of my favorite cakes! It has a rich flavored filling with this super little bits of Oreo in it. The cake is very easy to make and even the beginner in baking can make it without problems. This Oreo cake is best when you leave it overnight and serve the next day because the buttercream is best when left overnight. Let’s get started with the recipe 😉
Ingredients for the cake:
Combine vegetable shortening and sugar in a bowl. Then add the eggs and mix with the mixer until light and fluffy. Use a separate bowl and sift all the dry ingredients. Start to gradually add the sifted ingredients to the mixture. Add a small amount of dry ingredients and a small amount of buttermilk at the time. After you combined all the ingredients add the vanilla paste and mix until all the vanilla is combined. Then add the vinegar and mix.
You need to divide the mixture into three equal parts since you will be baking three cake sheets. Or you can bake one tall cake sheet an cut it with this cake layer slicer. Grease your cake pans or cover them with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 320º F (160° C). Bake for about 25 minutes, take it out of the oven and leave it to cool completely.
While you are waiting for cake to cool, start with the buttercream.
Ingredients for the buttercream:
|Unsalted butter||1 cup||230 g|
|Powdered sugar||3 cups||385 g|
|Oreos||1 pack||1 pack|
|Water||2 tablespoons||2 tablespoons|
|Vanilla bean paste||1 tablespoon||1 tablespoon|
Beat the butter in the bowl and then add vanilla and beat until combined. Start to add sifted powdered sugar bit by bit and beat continuously. Beat the mixture until it becomes smooth and then add two tablespoons of boiling water to loosen up the mixture. In this stage you can add different colors to your buttercream if you want. Put the Oreos in the plastic bag and crush them with the rolling pin to the really small chunks. Take one half of the buttercream and mix crushed Oreos in it.
Cover each layer of the cake with Oreo buttercream and cover the outside of the cake with plain buttercream. Put it in the fridge for an hour and then add the second layer of buttercream. Split the mini Oreos and decorate the cake with them.
Your Oreo cake is now finished and ready to serve. You will enjoy in the fantastic Oreo filling with the little crumbly chunks of Oreo cookies. Bon appetit!
