Rum chocolate cake

Rum chocolate cake is another one of my quick and fine recipes. This is good classic cake and it is juicy, tasty and full of rum. It is an easy to prepare and everybody can prepare it. Rum chocolate cake is perfect for all occasions. If you do not like rum, then the amount of rum can be replaced with the same amount of orange juice and you will get the same treat in a different way. If you try it, you will surely be delighted!

Ingredients for biscuit:

400 g of sugar

150 g butter

200 g flour

140 g ground walnuts

6 egg yolks

1 tablespoon of baking powder

2 tablespoons cocoa

300ml of water

100ml of Rum

100ml of milk

6 egg whites


Mix egg whites until you get a strong snow and put it away. Mix yolks and 200g of sugar and add the softened butter. Then  slowly mix and add walnuts, flour, cocoa, baking powder and milk. Add egg whites snow and mix manually until you get a smooth mixture.  Pour it into a floured and greased baking pan and bake in preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees  Fahrenheit) for 30 minutes.

In the meantime, prepare the syrup. Boil the water, 200g of sugar and 50ml of Rum. Let it boil for 5 minutes. Then take it away from the heat and add another 50ml of Rum. Pour this hot syrup over the biscuit.

Rum chocolate cake syrup

Put it in the fridge for 2 hours  to cool down.

Ingredients for chocolate glaze:

100g dark chocolate

3 tablespoons of icing sugar

1 tablespoon milk

60 g of butter

Melt the chocolate on steam and then add the butter. Mix until butter dissolves. Than add icing sugar and milk. Mix until you get a nice shiny mixture. Pour the chocolate glaze over the cake and put it in the fridge over night.

When the cake is cooled down, cut it into cubes. Each cube sprinkle with little bit of ground walnuts and serve.
