These sticks are true gourmet snacks. Sticks with bacon and feta cheese can also be made of puff pastry if you are in a hurry. Instead of bacon and feta cheese you can put in it grated cheese and ham. For me this is the best filling for a true gourmet delight.
Ingredients for pastry:
1/2 (20g) yeast
1 tea spoon sugar
250ml warm milk
1 tea spoon salt
Ingredients for filling:
150g chopped bacon
200g feta cheese
Stir the yeast into 100ml of warm milk and add one tea spoon of sugar. Put away yeast with milk to swell. Meanwhile stir flour and salt. When the yeast is swollen add it to the flour. Then add 150ml of warm milk and oil and knead a smooth dough. Put it away for at last 1 hour to double in size.
When the dough has doubled in size, divide it in two parts. Roll both parts out with rolling pin to form a rectangle size 35×30 cm (11,5×13,5 inches). Cut one portion of dough into wider sticks like in the picture below. Put some bacon and feta cheese at each stick. Repeat until you cover the all cut sticks.
After you have completed with the stacking of bacon and feta cheese to the sticks take the second part of the dough and cut sticks the same size as on the first half of the dough. With these cut pieces cover the portion of dough on which is bacon and feta cheese.
Bake in preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) for 15 minutes. Sticks with bacon and feta cheese are great either warm or cold.
